Things are looking up at the house. The granite countertop has been installed and our cabinets are currently being installed. There is some finish work left on them. The rock on the outside of the house is completed. It looks very nice. They have also poured a concrete pad on the north side of the house where there have been some drainage problems in the past. We are so glad to get that concrete in as that side of the house was a real eyesore. The tile is completed in the shower and tub area as well as the floor in the master bathroom. We have selected carpeting and window coverings which should be installed in the next two to four weeks. :-)

The house is going very slow right now. They have finished the dry wall and texturing on the inside of the house. They have finished the siding on the outside and have started painting. Next week they should finish painting the outside and they plan to do finish carpentry on the inside (baseboard and window casements). Then painting should start on the inside. I will update the blog with the latest pictures soon.

We got some bad news on the house recently. When they went to order the siding, they learned that the type of siding on the house was not made anymore. There was something similar but it had wood grains in it while the existing siding was a smooth surface. So we were faced with replacing all of the siding. As you can see from the picture of the front of the house, we will actually have 3 different types of siding on the house all made of what is called Hardy Board, a concrete based product supposed to be one of the best used today. They used Hardy plank, a 6 inch plank layed vertically on the first floor, and then used something called Board & Batten on the lower part of the second floor and shingles above that. We think it looks really nice. We are waiting delivery of some windows and the front door before they can complete the siding. Paint comes next on the outside and insulation and dry wall on the inside.

This week they should finish framing the house. We are waiting for windows now and after they come and are installed, the siding can then be put on the house. I have added two pictures today to show how the outside of the house in the front and back are taking shape.
